A slower morning in Ubud
Start with a short walk around the rice-growing landscape, then leave time for lunch and a quiet afternoon at the villa. Campuhan and the Ubud area offer a different rhythm from the coast. Choose a route with your guide that suits everyone’s mobility.
Plan it with family
Suggested family pace: one short outdoor stop, lunch and a rest. Paths may be uneven and are not always stroller-friendly.
Meet Bali through its kitchen
Build a meal around Balinese flavours such as sate lilit or betutu. Ask for sambal on the side and discuss allergies and dietary restrictions in advance. A private cooking experience can turn lunch into shared family time; the menu and venue need confirmation.

Suggested activity: a guided ingredient introduction followed by a simple cooking session. Ask the operator about minimum ages.

Rather than covering the whole island in a day, pair an Ubud outing with a locally arranged art or craft activity. Ask before photographing people or ceremonies, and check whether a performance is scheduled during your stay.

Labuan Bajo
Island days, thoughtfully paced.
Labuan Bajo is your mainland gateway. A stay on Seraya Kecil also needs a boat transfer, so coordinate flights, tides and the property’s operating schedule.
Komodo, with a plan that fits
Komodo National Park brings together volcanic islands, coral habitats and the Komodo dragon. Choose an itinerary around ranger-led wildlife viewing and the group’s fitness. Seeing wildlife is never guaranteed; access and sailing plans depend on local rules and conditions.
Plan it with family
Ask for a shorter route, shade, drinking water and child-size life jackets. Padar climbs and strong-current snorkelling are not suitable for every family.
An evening around Kampung Ujung
The waterfront food stalls of Kampung Ujung are a place to explore local seafood. Agree on the portion and price before ordering, and ask how dishes are cooked. For an island stay, plan this meal before your transfer rather than assuming you can return after dark.

Suggested family stop: an early dinner with fully cooked dishes and a simple shared menu. Confirm allergies directly with the kitchen.
A taste of Flores on land
Ask your local guide about kompiang bread and kolo, rice cooked in bamboo. A food-focused mainland outing adds another dimension to a trip built around the sea. Any cultural visit should be arranged with the hosts; ceremonial performances are not an everyday guarantee.

Sumba
Textiles, villages & open horizons.
Plan west and east Sumba separately. From Kodi, a journey to Waingapu or Wairinding is a long island crossing, not a nearby afternoon excursion.
The stories woven into ikat
Ikat is a living textile tradition, with motifs and techniques that vary between communities. Ask a local host to arrange a weaving visit near your villa, with time to watch and purchase directly if you wish. Prailiu near Waingapu is an option for an East Sumba itinerary.

Suggested activity: a short demonstration with permission from the weavers. Ask before touching cloth, entering homes or taking photographs.
Keep your Kodi days local
A private outing can combine a village visit with a coastal stop around Kodi. Leave generous time for roads and rest, and confirm access with your driver. A scenic beach is not automatically a safe swimming beach; ask locally about waves and currents.

Make room for regional flavours
Explore the wider food traditions of Nusa Tenggara Timur through a locally arranged meal. Jagung bose is associated especially with Timor, so describe it as a regional dish rather than an exclusively Sumbanese speciality. Ask your host which dishes are available during your stay.
